Cocoa

You know that our foundation is involved in planting various types of bamboo on the arid, barren savannas of Northern Ghana. Meanwhile we are also active in the Galamsey area in other parts of Ghana.
I’m writing this because the media reports that the cocoa tree is going badly. They die because they are exposed to too much sunlight. Small farmers therefore go to the jungle, illegally felling the trees and planting new cocoa trees there. This is not beneficial to the jungle, but it also seems to me that this is not the way to work efficiently.
How does the Ghanaian government react to this? We wonder, can we help? Where new cocoa plantations are established, we can plant bamboo or another shadow tree Bamboo grows faster than cocoa. Bamboo and Winterthorn are capable of giving the cocoa tree sufficient shade. Our nursery is able to supply many thousands of bamboos and winterthorn in the short term. We do not know which species is the most suitable.
